A message from the other-world about life’s delights
A theatrical guide, a funeral of sorrow, a reminder of life’s joys in a site-specific style that encourages actors and spectators to celebrate life while not forgetting human mortality. With joy in one eye and a tear in the other – Memento mori in a beautiful baroque contrast!
Inspired by the unique cycle of painted frescoes Dance of Death from the hospital corridor in Kuks.
In Prague, we perform at the Malostranský Cemetery in Smíchov (Plzeňská Street near the Bertramka tram stop). This cemetery has not been utilized for burials since 1884, but many sculpturally valuable tombstones have been preserved. Many significant personalities from the time of the national revival are interred here. The cemetery, along with the Church of the Holy Trinity, is said to have inspired Jan Neruda while writing his poetry collection, Graveyard Flowers. The mysterious atmosphere of the cemetery is further complemented by the legendary tombstone of a little girl, where people light candles.
The production will be conducted outdoors; therefore, we kindly ask that you dress appropriately and wear suitable footwear. This performance is designed as a traveling experience, where the audience will move between different scenes and will not have the opportunity to sit. In the event of severe weather conditions, the performance will be canceled, and we will notify ticket holders accordingly.
